The Asia Young Designer Awards (AYDA) was first launched in 2008, the ‘ premier design competition in the country. They serve as a platform for aspiring Architectural and Interior Designs students from different region. They provide opportunities for young and talented designers to develop their skills and allows them to learn from their fellow designers and be recognized both internationally and globally. Last Friday, July 23, together with the host Mikki Sachiko, they officially kicked off with this year’s theme,  FORWARD: Amplifying Empathy Through Design.

This year’s participant will have the opportunity to be screened and judged by a panel of celebrated and industry known architects and interior designers. Head judge, Ar. Richard Garcia, UAP National Executive and Vice President of Visionary Architecture, and Interior Designers Cynthia Almario and Ivy Almario, co-founders of Atelier Almario Corporation.

On the theme launch was also an esteemed guest, a pioneer in advocating sustainable and green architecture, with 50 years of experience as an architect and urban planner and the the President and Founder of the Palafox Architecture Group, Architect Felino “Jun” Palafox, Jr.

Now on it’s 14th year, AYDA has maintained it’s relevance in the evolution of its theme, this year it continues on its emphasis on designing with a heart. It is letting us focus on people, adapt in our culture and live sustainably with nature.
