Books over eBooks

When technology has been taking over, I’d still go for traditional things. I’d still prefer scribbling and doodling on my planner than just typing notes on my laptop. I’d still prefer receiving snail mails than emails. And of course, I’d still choose books over ebooks. I love that I get this certain feeling as I turn the pages and  I love the smell of a new book. It gets me so high every single time!

This is a long overdue post, but posting it anyway because this is worth sharing for. Last February 9 to 11, National Bookstore held their very first #BookBingeBazaar. Books priced at 75, 175 and 275, who could resist such bargain? Spent about 3 hours searching all book shelf to make sure I get the book I want.

Showing you my book haul. I have been eyeing most of these and I can’t believe that I was able to buy them for just 175 each. I am screaming inside and my heart is literally jumping for joy.

The other book sale I went to was by Big Bad Wolf Books held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. Big Bad Wolf Book has been known for their frequent book fair in Malaysia and Thailand, and this February  was their first ever book sale in the Philippines.

Went there 3 times but was only able to get inside, twice. First attempt was on a Saturday night (11PM to 1AM). Got really disappointed that I spent 2 hours and only bought 3 books. When we arrived, the YA Fiction table were almost empty. None of their staff bothered to unload the boxes and restock the books.

My first haul:

  • The Day We Met by Rowan Coleman
  • Getting Past Your Breakup by Susan J. Elliott
  • Bible

2nd attempt was on a Friday night (Feb 23) but we were stuck in such a heavy traffic along Macapagal. It was horrible so I just decided to go back early the next day. The last attempt was at 5:30AM, I thought I was already early but damn, the parking was almost full.

So happy that they restocked 4-5 times and so I was able to get more books this time. You know you’ve been enjoying too much when you don’t notice the time. I can’t believe I stayed there for 7 hours. The place was like heaven for me!

Getting to these book sales were a bit stressful because of the traffic and parking was an issue too, but the overall experience was great. The hassle it all cause was all worth it. I’d definitely go back to future book sales… when I’m done reading all these.

Btw, this March 16-18, National Bookstore will be having another warehouse sale.

Do you love reading too? Feel free to recommend good books I can read! 🙂
