Getting Inked

Ex-con.
Criminals.
Bad people.

Dirty.

Those are few words that most people think of once asked about words to describe people with tattoos. IMO, yes, us with tattoos are negatively stereo-typed. I’ll be sharing my own experience and thoughts on having a tattoo.

I was in college when I first thought of getting inked. But of course, I could never get it for the following reasons: I’m not allowed and I don’t have enough money to pay for it. So I just settled for temporary tattoo using markers. haha.

Graduating and getting employed doesn’t automatically equates me = tattoo. I still have to get approval from my parents and need to justify why I think it’s ok to have one. It even came to a point where my father sent me biblical verses relating to this. Some may think that getting inked is a sin, and I’m not saying it isn’t either. I hope people would understand that getting a tattoo doesn’t make someone less of a person. I hope that we will not be judged just because of what’s on our skin.

I was not really allowed to get one, talk about breaking the rules eh? I’m not proud of disobeying my parents but somehow I wanted to decide for myself. I’ve thought of this for a long time and I guess nothing’s wrong with my decision.

I had my first tattoo on Nov 2012 (my parents only found about it almost half a year after). On 2013, I got 2 additional tatts. Some asked me why wasn’t I contented with just one tattoo, well, there’s something about it that’ll make you want more. I’m actually looking forward to having a fourth one! HAHA
